I. Meaning of Incorporating New Converts into the People of God

A. Definition: the practicing Christian Leader is one who welcomes new members of the people of God by incorporating new believers into the family of God.
1. Welcomes new members of the people of God: the practicing Christian leader helps to create an environment where new members of the community are welcomed into God’s family.

a. Peter’s acceptance of the Gentiles went against his sensibilities, but he did it because God received them, Acts 10.44-48.
b. We are called to welcome each other in the Lord, Rom. 15.5-7.
c. We all, regardless of our background, are accepted on the basis of our faith in Jesus Christ, and we therefore must receive each other on the basis of our confession, Gal. 3.13-14.
2. Incorporating new believers into the family of God: the Christian leader helps to bring these new members into the family of God as smoothly and warmly as possible.
