Conclusion

» The practicing Christian leader is one who provides care for and seeks healing of his flock during their times of trial and distress to reestablish them on their faith journey with the Lord and his people. » Although every disciple will experience trials, God has called godly shepherds and undershepherds to guard, tend, feed, and protect his people, and help them grow during times of struggle and stress.

The following questions were designed to help you review the material in the second video segment. Informed by the example given to us by Jesus Christ in his love for his people, the Christian leader is called to guard, tend, feed, and protect the people of God in the body of Christ. Perhaps there is no greater honor in all of life than to serve the Lord in tending and feeding his own dear people, whom he has bought with him Blood. To learn the art of caring for the flock of God must be one of the critical priorities of servant leaders in every level of responsibility and work in the Church of God. From the senior pastor to the lowliest Sunday School teacher, if you are in Christian leadership you share in some dimension in this high calling to care for, feed, and protect God’s little lambs. Carefully rehearse the critical concepts in this lesson, and seek to understand these principles in the light of God’s call for us to care for and feed his sheep. 1. Is it the responsibility of the senior pastor only to tend and care for sheep in God’s flock, or does every Christian leader share in this high honor and duty? 2. Why is shepherding such an important spiritual responsibility for Christians living in urban communities plagued by violence and broken families? Why do communities like this call for the most dedicated shepherds to care for God’s people in them? 3. Jesus’ comment about the hireling fleeing in the face of danger says something fundamental about those who are valid shepherds. What is the significance of shepherds being willing to face and confront those things which threaten the well-being and livelihood of the sheep?
