Valerian of Cimiez (fl. 422–439) – Valerian was a monk who became bishop of Cimiez (now in southern France) whose passion was to strengthen discipline in the church. Many of his sermons were preserved, including his sermon on Psalm 12, excerpted here. Zell, Katharina Schütz (1498–1562) – Katharina participated in her husband Matthew’s pastoral duties during the Protestant Reformation. They worked in Strasbourg (now in modern-day France). After his death, she continued the work of visiting the people of their congregation and encouraging others by letter. This book features her paraphrases of Psalms 51 and 130 from her own German diaries, which she sent to Sir Felix Armbruster, a man of high society who was isolated due to disease. When Did They Live?
