Chapter 2 Psalms 18–38

Psalm 18 with Augustine – God, My Rock and Refuge I love you, LORD, my strength (v. 1). You make me strong. The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer (v. 2). Lord, you have sustained me, because I sought refuge in you, and I sought refuge, because you delivered me. My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. My defender, because I have not leaned on myself, lifting up the horn of pride against you; but have found you to be a horn indeed, that is, the sure height of salvation. He has rescued me from my powerful enemy (v. 17), who afflicted and attempted to overturn me. And from my foes, who were too strong for me, as long as I was under those who do not know God. They confronted me in the day of my disaster (v. 18). They have first injured me, while I endure a mortal and tiresome body. But the LORD was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place (v. 19). And since I was enduring physical distress, he brought me forth into
