Review the following appendices in Planting Churches among the City’s Poor: An Anthology of Urban Church Planting Resources (please refer to the Appendix Table at the end of this session in order to find the location of each document listed below, i.e., its volume and page number), and then answer together the questions under Seminar Group Discussion . • Ethics of the New Testament: Living in the Upside-down Kingdom of God • Cross Cultural Church Planting Principles • The Missionary Vocation: Assessing Cross-Cultural Adaptability • That We May Be One: Element of an Integrated Church Planting Movement among the Urban Poor • The SIAFU Network – Assembling God’s Warriors: Toward a Strategy to Win the City • Fit to Represent: Multiplying Disciples of the Kingdom of God Seminar Group Discussion 1. According to Scripture, what challenges exist in communicating the Gospel to the wealthy and affluent? What barriers exist in sharing the Gospel with the poor and indigent? 2. Do you agree with the statement: “The specific teaching of the New Testament [is this]: We cannot claim to be converted to God and not choose to be converted to the poor.” Why or why not? 3. Why are our expectations of the poor and their possibility so important to ministry among them? Explain. 4. What kinds of attitudes will it be necessary for us to cultivate in order to believe that God wants the poor to not only be transformed, but to be the leaders of the Kingdom in their own neighborhoods?
