Planting and Growing Urban Churches: From Dream to Reality . Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Book House, 1996. This is a “big picture” book on why church planting in the cities is especially important. Harvie Conn was a cross- cultural missionary for many years and has written a number of books calling the evangelical church to prioritize urban missions. Francis, Hozell C. Church Planting in the African American Context . Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House, 2000. This is one of several books published in the last two decades that focuses on the specific issues facing church planters targeting African-American communities.
