4. As saints of God, we participate as characters in the epic and cosmic drama of God being played out on the stage of earth, and as aliens and sojourners we are to be God’s counter-cultural community fleshing out the life of the Age to come in the here and now, 1 Pet. 1.13-21.

C. The Great Tradition of the Church reveals how the Story of God can shape every facet of our personal, family, and congregational lives.

1. In our theology , we affirm our allegiance by faith in baptism to Christ our Savior, and to his Father as God as the Author of the Story, Jesus of Nazareth as its Champion, and the Holy Spirit as the interpreter of the Story.

2. The Scriptures are the living testimony and record of the Story.

3. In our worship we historically recite the Story, prophetically proclaim the Story, and dramatically reenact the Story.

4. In initiation and incorporation into our fellowship, we welcome the believing through baptism into the body of Christ, both as they renounce the ungodliness and competing stories of this world, and identify with and embrace the Story in faith and obedience.

5. In our discipleship we learn the Story, memorize and meditate on the Story, and are trained in the meaning of the Story.
