The Epistles to the Hebrews

Appendix  133

Union with Christ: The Christocentric Paradigm, continued

1 John 3.2 (ESV) - Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

John 17.16 (ESV) - They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

Col. 1.15-18 (ESV) - He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. [16] For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things were created through him and for him. [17] And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. [18] And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. Heb. 2.14-15 (ESV) - Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, [15] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. Rev. 1.5-6 (ESV) - and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood [6] and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 2 Tim. 2.11-13 (ESV) - The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; [12] if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; [13] if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself. Rev. 3.21 (ESV) - The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
