In this lesson we explored the biblical concept of teaching and how the teaching ministry focuses on teaching everything that Jesus commanded us, is a function of maturity in the body of Christ, and demands God’s ongoing blessing through the Holy Spirit in order to be effective. We also looked at the call, character, and content of the teaching ministry, and how these weave together to enable the teacher to equip the saints for the work of the ministry for the building up of the body of Christ. We saw how only the Lord’s own strength and call can ensure a fruitful teaching ministry as we break the Bread of Life for the nourishment of the Church. In our next lesson we will examine the critical role of the Holy Spirit in making effective the teaching of the Word of God in his Church. We will also discuss together the three steps in designing, delivering, and applying a teaching presentation based upon the Word of God. We’ll see how we must first establish contact with our students, then communicate the content of the Word of God in our lesson with clarity and boldness. Finally, we will show how we must strive to make connections with the lives of the students and the truth of the Word of God. Through the leading of the Spirit, we can so teach so our students come to obey all that Christ has commanded us, and thus advance his Kingdom and bring glory to his name.
