Now is the time for you to discuss with your fellow students your questions about the ministry of teaching. What particular questions do you have in light of the material you have just studied? Maybe some of the questions below might help you form your own, more specific and critical questions. * In exploring the teaching ministry for your own life, what are the key areas or venues (places) where God has given you an opportunity to teach today? How open are the people to hearing the Word of God in these various relationships you hold? * How would you describe your own level of discipline and spiritual brokenness in preparation for a renewed teaching ministry in your home and church? * Finish the following statement: “When it comes to the characteristics of an effective teacher, my greatest strength is . . .” * Are you secure when others reject or do not respond well to your teaching? Why is it important not to automatically assume that because the audience did not respond well to your teaching that it is the fault of your poor teaching ? What else could it also be attributed to? * Since the Holy Spirit oversees and influences the entire process of the teaching event, what would you say are the three key things you could do today to enhance and improve your relationship to the Spirit in your walk with the Lord? Be specific. * Do you currently use a method when you are called upon to teach, and if so, what is it? Share it with your fellow students. How has your method been used of the Lord to encourage and build up others? What in your current method is not working as well as you would desire? * In thinking about the “Contact, Content, and Connection” model of instruction, which of the phases are you most skilled at employing? Which do you have the most difficulty in applying in your teaching sessions? Explain. * How do you think you can learn to be more sensitive to your students as you seek to establish contact with them? How might you more effectively adapt your methods as you seek to communicate with them content of the Word of God in your teaching lessons?
