Your answers above ought to now place you in a position to make some very real and practical ministry connections with this teaching on the nature of the preaching ministry. As noted above, whether or not you feel a call to preach formally, every disciple of Christ and arguably every leader is called to proclaim the truth of God as it is in Jesus of Nazareth and the rule of God in him. Certainly, one or more concepts touched your own heart as you pondered and discussed the material above; now, select an issue or insight to especially meditate on and pray for throughout this next week. Perhaps in the course of the discussion the Holy Spirit highlighted an issue or theme that he wants you to explore further, to know in a deeper way. Ask for his specific leading, and listen to his reply as he helps you locate a particular situation or idea that he wants you to ponder. He is faithful, and will lead and guide you into the truth for your growth and Christ’s glory (John 16.13). Pray specifically to the Lord about the nature of your own call, character, and mastery of the content of the Good News that makes up the preaching ministry. In one way or another, we all are given the high privilege to represent the Lord Jesus and his Kingdom in our life and words in the context of our lives. He desires for you to represent him with clarity and boldness, and for this we need his prayer and grace. Let us recall the bold petition of the apostolic band who were faced with opposition as they sought to represent the Lord with integrity so many centuries ago: Acts 4.24-30 - And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, [25] who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, ‘Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? [26] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his
