II. Communicate the Word of God Effectively: Paint the Picture in the Eyes of Your Listeners to Show Them Your Theme, Not Merely Tell Them About It.
Preach Christ and His Kingdom
One central motif in the Scriptures is the kingdom of God. It was the main thrust of Jesus’ teaching and preaching. Jesus came as the fulfillment of John the Baptist’s message, which was clear, precise, and simple: “Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand.” ~ R. C. Sproul. Following Christ . (electronic ed.). Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, 1996.
Prepare and preach sermons that are biblical, outlining the Kingdom of God, and dealing with the whole counsel of God.
A. Preach the Word: focus on Christ.
2 Tim. 4.2 - Preach the word ; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. Col. 1.27-29 - To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. [28] Him we proclaim , warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. [29] For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
