why studying eschatology is important, the theme of death, resurrection, and the Intermediate state. Also the subjects of the Second Coming, the final judgment, and the recreated heavens and earth are covered. What you will want to do is to see all of the specific themes against the backdrop of the Story of God itself. The great reason why many Christians fail to attend the prophecies regarding the things to come is that they get bogged down in the details and lose sight of the broad vision–God Almighty, in a time and manner known only to himself, has determined to consummate all things through the Coming of his Son to earth, who will eradicate all vestiges of sin and establish a new heaven and earth where God rules forever. That is the biggest picture of all, and ought to be the one you seek to highlight as you go through the lesson. Please notice again in the objectives that these truths are clearly stated. As usual, your responsibility as Mentor is to emphasize these concepts throughout the lesson, especially during the discussions and interaction with the students. The more you can highlight the objectives throughout the class period, the better the chances are that they will understand and grasp the magnitude of these objectives. This devotional deals with the point made at the beginning of these Mentor’s notes, that is, that the focus of the study of eschatology ought to be on the ways we see God consummating his plan in his Son, and less on the minutia that the human mind, through its idleness and curiosity, is prone to wander towards. Said differently, this text reveals that the heart of what God wants to do in bringing his Story to a close is to concentrate on the worthiness and splendor of his Son, who alone has been found worthy by the Father to make an end of all things. This is not merely a devotional idea; rather, it is the deepest theology we can muster. In Jesus of Nazareth we now have come to understand him through whomGod will judge the worlds and restore all things to the pre-Fall excellence and glory. He has been given much, but, as Lord of all, he can and will accomplish much. It is here that we come to comprehend Jesus’ role as the Father’s Anointed One, the one chosen by God to render this world back under his reign, and the one who will in fact rule forever at God’s behest.
