3. Physical and spiritual death are both the result of sin, Rom. 6.23; Eph. 2.1-2.

4. That which is called the “second death,” (the eternal separation of a human being from the presence of God) does not apply to believers.

a. Over those chosen to enter into Christ’s Kingdom, the second death has no power, Rev. 20.6.

b. Since Jesus is the resurrection and the life, those believing in him shall not die in the second death, John 11.25-26.

5. Jesus’ mighty kingdom work overcomes the power of death for the believer.

a. Through his coming to earth to defeat the devil

b. Through his overcoming of the curse

c. Through his payment for the penalty for our sin on the cross through his shed blood

d. Because of these, none who believe in him will ever experience the second death or eternal separation from the Lord.
