» In that consummation, God Almighty in Jesus will conquer death, resulting in the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment on humankind. » Finally, at the end, even the Kingdom itself will be made subject to God Godself, in order that God may become All-in-all.
The following questions were designed to help you review the material in the second video segment related to the Second Coming of Jesus, as well as the issues of death, the intermediate state, the resurrection, the judgment, and the final consummation of the Kingdom with God as All-in-all. Answer the questions, concentrating on the “big ideas” and principles associated with the consummation, especially on Jesus’ role in consummating the Kingdom at his Second Coming. Be clear and concise in your answers, and where possible, support with Scripture! 1. What is the meaning of the Greek term parousia ? How does this term help us to understand the Second Coming of Christ? 2. In what ways do we know that the Second Coming of Jesus is definite, sure, and certain? What do we mean when we say that his coming is “imminent but unknown?” 3. Explain the various meanings associated with the glorious character of Jesus’ soon return (e.g. it is personal, physical, visible, full of splendor and glory, and unexpected). Why are each of these important in order to understand the true nature of the parousia ? 4. Explain the difference between the various millennial views ( postmillenial , premillenial , and amillennial ) of the Second Coming. Which view seems to reflect best what Scripture teaches on the millennium?
