Kingdom Texts in the New Testament (continued)
Matt. 13.43-45 (ESV) - Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear. The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. Matt. 13.47 (ESV) - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind. Matt. 13.52 (ESV) - And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.” Matt. 16.19 (ESV) - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matt. 16.28 (ESV) - Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. Matt. 18.1, 3-4 (ESV) - At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” . . . “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matt. 18.23 (ESV) - Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. Matt. 19.12 (ESV) - For there are eunuchs who have been so from birth, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let the one who is able to receive this receive it. Matt. 19.14 (ESV) - . . . but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Matt. 19.23-24 (ESV) - And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
