Kingdom Texts in the Old Testament (continued)
1 Chron. 28.7 (ESV) - I will establish his kingdom forever if he continues strong in keeping my commandments and my rules, as he is today. 1 Chron. 29.10-12 (ESV) - Therefore David blessed the L ORD in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: “Blessed are you, O L ORD , the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. [11] Yours, O L ORD , is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O L ORD , and you are exalted as head above all. [12] Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.” 2 Chron. 32.15 (ESV) - Now, therefore, do not let Hezekiah deceive you or mislead you in this fashion, and do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand! 2 Chron. 33.13 (ESV) - He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the L ORD was God. Neh. 9.32-35 (ESV) - Now, therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love, let not all the hardship seem little to you that has come upon us, upon our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our fathers, and all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria until this day. [33] Yet you have been righteous in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly. [34] Our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept your law or paid attention to your commandments and your warnings that you gave them. [35] Even in their own kingdom, enjoying your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land that you set before them, they did not serve you or turn from their wicked works. Ps. 9.7-8 (ESV) - But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice, [8] and he judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness.
