5. Persecution is the norm for those living godly in the present world in Christ, 2 Tim. 3.12.

6. As representatives of Jesus in such a violent and resisting world, the Holy Spirit will confirm the Word of the Kingdom with kingdom signs and power, Mark 16.19-20.

C. The power of the Holy Spirit will be displayed as the Church advances the Kingdom of God to the ends of the earth.

1. The Church in the world as “the Church Militant”

a. The Church Militant exists in between the times, in the already/not yet Kingdom.

b. The Church Militant represents Christ’s interests as soldiers represent their foreign land, 2 Tim. 2.3-4.

2. The Church has been given authority to represent Jesus in power, for the Kingdom of God is not in word alone, 1 Cor. 4.20.
