This module on the New Testament Witness to Christ and His Kingdom has been designed to give you, the student of Scripture, a cursory analysis of the historical witness in the Gospels to the person and work of Jesus Christ. No survey of a few lessons can possibly plumb the depths of truth that awaits your further study of this material. What should be plain, however, from this analysis of the Word of God on the subject of Christ is that Jesus’ identity as the Messiah of God is the critical theme of all of the New Testament, and the subject proper of the Gospel accounts. From the birth of our Lord in the season of Roman occupation of Israel, through the announcement of his Messiahship at Nazareth, to his triumphal entry into Jerusalem during his final week before his death, our Lord demonstrated that he is the Messiah, the anointed one of God of whomMoses and the prophets spoke. Jesus of Nazareth through his life, death, resurrection, and ascension proves unequivocally that he is the Messiah, the Lord and Savior of the world.
