C. The importance of OT Messianic prophecy to understanding the OT witness to Christ

1. Understanding Jesus as the fulfillment of OT Messianic prophecy is the way that Jesus and the apostles used the OT.

2. Prophecies about Messiah can illumine our understanding of the meaning of Jesus’ interpretation of Scripture.

3. Augustine’s adage of the OT being revealed in the NT, and the NT being concealed in the OT is clearly illustrated in Messianic prophecy.
