I. The Tabernacle of God: a Type of Jesus Christ
Video Segment 2 Outline
Jesus Christ fulfills all the types within the earthly Tabernacle of the Lord in the wilderness (including all replicas of the Tabernacle in the Temple).
A. General truths regarding the Tabernacle
1. The Tabernacle was a copy or a shadow of the true dwelling place of God in the heavenlies. Heb. 8.5 - They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” Heb. 9.24 - For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.
2
a. No physical place can actually be the dwelling place of God; Solomon’s Temple was a larger replica of the same structure and truths.
b. God dwells with us in various ways.
(1) He dwells in heaven in the midst of his holy angels and ministering spirits. (2) He dwells in the people of God through the Holy Spirit, Eph. 2.19-22. (3) He indwells in the person of the Holy Spirit each individual believer, Eph. 1.13. (4) The Tabernacle looks forward to the final dwelling place of the Lord with humankind, the New Jerusalem, Heb. 11.16; 12.22 cf. Rev. 21-22.
