The following questions were designed to help you review the material in the second video segment. The OT pictures forth the coming of Messiah in powerful images of priesthood, Tabernacle, sacrifice, and festival. Indeed, we saw how the OT provides a comprehensive witness to Christ and his Kingdom in Israel’s priestly and sacrificial system. Jesus is the antitype for the sacrifice and redemption prefigured in the actions of the Tabernacle and the priesthood, the numerous sacrifices as well as the feasts and festivals of its worship and celebration. In this sense, the OT’s very soul (its key characters, events, and institutions) all together prefigure the person and work of Jesus of Nazareth. This segment included a broad overview of some of these ideas, so be careful to review the material through the questions below. Seek to trace your own understanding of these types and antitypes through the Scriptures (for future reference). 1. In what sense is the OT Tabernacle a type of the salvation provided in Jesus Christ? In what sense can we say that it was a copy or shadow of the true dwelling place of God in the heavenlies? 2. In what way does the description of the Tabernacle’s dimensions and compartments (e.g., the Outer Court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of holies) illustrate the principle of access to God ? How was that access limited in the Tabernacle system? In contrast to its antitype, how is the access we now have to Jesus Christ different from the access provided by the Tabernacle? 3. In what way does the Brazen Altar represent sacrificial redemption in Christ, the Laver represent the cleansing we receive through the blood of Jesus Christ, the Table of Shewbread represent Jesus as the Bread of Life, and the Golden Candlestick represent Christ as the Light of the world? 4. Explain how the Altar of Incense pictures forth the ministry of Jesus as our intercessor before the Father. How does the Veil of the Tabernacle represent his broken body upon the Cross? 5. In what way does the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of holies represent our own communion with God that all believers share in Jesus Christ? 6. Compare the elements of the priesthood of Aaron, Melchizedek, and Jesus Christ. 7. Compare and contrast the various Tabernacle sacrifices and how Jesus Christ fulfills in his life and sacrifice the meaning of all of them: the whole

The Three Errors of Typology to Avoid
There are three dangers, however, which must be avoided: limiting the type, and therefore not using it. Exaggerating the type, and therefore overusing it. Imagining the type, and therefore misusing it. ~ J. Boyd Nicholson from the forward to Harvest Fields .
