blood cleanses and redeems us; in the Feast of Unleavened Bread , Jesus is the one who inspires our walk in holiness before him, and not in malice or evil living; in the Feast of First Fruits , Jesus is the first fruits of the coming harvest of new humanity to be redeemed for God; in the Feast of Pentecost , Jesus is the one who with the Father pours out his Holy Spirit upon the Church in this present age; in the Feast of Trumpets , Jesus is the one who will return and regather his people for redemption and blessing; in the Day of Atonement , Jesus is both the High Priest and the sacrifice offered to God in the heavenly Tabernacle for our sin; in the Feast of Tabernacles , Jesus is the one who will regather his people at his Second Coming for glorification and rest. Now is the time for you to discuss with your fellow students your questions about the clarification of the promise covered in lesson two. Review the relationship of these truths to your own life and ministry in the questions below. Perhaps they will trigger specific concerns and questions for you as well. * Have you ever done a typological study of the OT before? When, and what was the result of it? Were you convinced that it might be helpful in understanding the NT through these stories and images? * How would those with whom you fellowship now take to a typological approach to the OT? Do your spiritual leaders ever teach, preach, or instruct with this approach? If not, why not? * What difference does it make to you that the typological approach was the method that Jesus and his apostles used to understand the NT? Should we limit this method of study to them, because of its ability to be abused? * Do you know the aspects of biblical types (and their antitypes) well enough that you would be able to use this approach in one of your own studies? If not, which of the aspects are still either unclear or unknown to you? * Why would it be absolutely important to use the time-tested rule of biblical interpretation “Interpret the Scriptures with Scripture” when employing this particular method? What if someone suggested that something was a type, and you could not find its antitype in the NT–what then?
