Seeking to relate these truths to your own ministry through your church represents the core of this teaching. How might God want you to change or alter your ministry approach based on your learning of how to do character types—to meditate on the lives of these great personages, and to glean insight into God’s purpose and plan through them? How might you set aside time to become better skilled at this kind of study, and how might the Holy Spirit outfit you so you can better communicate the wonder of these truths to those who are members of your family and church? Ask the Lord, the Spirit, what he is specifically calling you to do about these truths. Plan to spend good time this week meditating on a character type, and ask the Lord to provide you with opportunity to share your findings with others. Be prepared to come back next week ready to share your insights with the other learners in your class. The relationship between our ability to understand and apply God’s Word and ongoing prayer and intercession is closely linked. Our comprehension and application of the Scriptures will be enhanced in every way if we commit the things we are learning to prayer, and ask the Holy Spirit to make our own what has surfaced through our study of God’s Word. E. M. Bounds again recognizes this linkage carefully:
