Departing to Serve

Benediction Lord Jesus, we ask for the strength to deny ourselves, to take up our crosses and to follow you. Forgive us for our distractions, transgressions, and wrong motives. Restore us to you as disciples and ambassadors, and help us to treasure you and your will above our very lives. We will give you all the praise for your gracious answers to these petitions, dear Savior, in your name, amen. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: If anyone will claim to be a follower of Christ, let them deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow him. Monday: The season of Lent is our following our Lord to the Cross, to share in his sufferings, and to die with him. Tuesday: Jesus’s mission in this world was to suffer on our behalf, and to die as our substitute in his death. Wednesday: Our Lord predicted that after he suffered and died he would rise from the dead, after three days. Thursday: Peter’s rejection of Jesus’s message of his death was a total misunderstanding of Jesus’s mission in the world. Friday: To be a disciple is to share in Jesus’s life and mission, and to share his sufferings. Saturday: To take up our cross is to let the death of Jesus work its power throughout our everyday lives. Pray without Ceasing – Flash Prayer for the Day Lord Jesus, enable me to say “No!” to my own selfish interests and “Yes!” to your holy will and ways in all I do and say this day, for your sake, amen.
