WEEK 15
The Lenten Season, a forty-day period starting on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Saturday of Holy Week, calls us to reflect on Jesus’s suffering, crucifixion, and death. As disciples of the humble Nazarene, we embrace his lowliness and humility, seeking to share the mind of himwho was obedient to death, even death on a cross.
THIS WEEK’S THEME Jesus Cleanses the Temple, John 2.13-22
With the Passover near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. After entering the temple, he saw those selling oxen, sheep, and pigeons, along with money-changers also sitting there. Seeing this, Jesus made a whip of cords, drove them out of the temple, along with the sheep and oxen, and overturned the tables of the money-changers. Jesus rebuked them for making his “Father’s house,” the Temple, a “house of trade.” This incident later brought to the disciples’ minds the text of Psalm 69.9, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

Preparing Our Hearts
Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Almighty God, open up our eyes to see the zeal of Jesus’s heart for your Temple. His love for you consumed him, and led him to give himself for us on the Cross. Enable us to share his zeal, to be consumed with the things that moved his heart, and to give him our all even as he gave his all to you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
