Monday of HolyWeek March 29, 2021

Holy Week recalls the events of our Lord’s suffering and death. We recall his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, his giving of the commandments on Maundy Thursday, his crucifixion and burial on Good Friday, and the solemn vigil of Saturday night before Easter Sunday.

TODAY’S THEME The Blood of Christ, Hebrews 9.11-15

When Christ appeared as our high priest, he entered once for all into the Holy Place, not by the blood of animals, but with his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. If the blood of animals and the ashes of a heifer could sanctify someone, how much more then will Christ’s blood purify us to serve the living and true God. Jesus offered himself to God as our perfect sacrifice through the eternal Spirit. In so doing he has become the mediator of a new covenant, so that all who are called can now receive the promised eternal inheritance.

Preparing Our Hearts

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Great God and Father of our Lord Jesus, we believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, which he offered in the tabernacle above to you through the Spirit, is the price of our salvation. Through our faith in him, now we are forgiven, justified, and purified from our own dead works to serve the living God alone. Thank you for the victory we receive today over sin and Satan through Jesus’s offered blood which washes and redeems us from our sin. We bless your name for his sacrifice. Amen.
