T he S eason after P entecost

Third Sunday after Pentecost June 13 - 19, 2021 • Proper 6

WEEK 29

On Pentecost we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit to earth on Christ’s believers, his infilling of the people of God, the Church. Through him, the third person of the Trinity, Jesus our Lord is now present with his people. The Spirit is the guarantee of the promised inheritance to come. We ponder the fullness and mystery of our God’s person and work in our celebration on Trinity Sunday.

THIS WEEK’S THEME Alpha andOmega: King: The Almighty, Daniel 4.34-35

God is infinite, eternal, and Almighty. The most powerful person in the world is accounted as nothing before the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar was a glorious emperor, feared by everyone, challenged by no one. In a moment, the Lord humbled this man and had him eating grass in the wild like an ox. When the Lord was done, Nebuchadnezzar paid homage to the Lord Almighty. There is no power, human or otherwise, that can stand against the Lord. No one can stay his hand. No one can challenge his authority. Take heart, brothers and sisters. Our God is so big, so strong, and so mighty, there’s nothing our God cannot do!
