Departing to Serve

Benediction Lord Jesus Christ, you are the savior and redeemer of those who believe. Through your matchless life, your suffering and saving death, and your glorious resurrection you defeated Satan and his minions, and paid the price for sin. You are our champion and our hope. Show us how to live in the victory you won for us, and we will bless your name. For your sake we pray, amen. Affirmation for the Day Sunday: In the garden, God promised to send a savior, the seed of the woman, to crush evil and to save humankind. Monday: Jesus came into the world in order to destroy the works of the devil. Tuesday: The Lord is a warrior, who makes war against the enemies of creation and his people. Wednesday: The first telling of the Gospel in Scripture (the “ proto-evangelium ”) shows God’s determination to save creation from the curse. Thursday: Through the cross, Jesus destroyed evil, death, Satan, and sin. Friday: Christ came in the fullness of time to confront and defeat the powers ravaging our lives.
