T he S eason after P entecost

Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost September 26 - October 2, 2021 • Proper 21 The Season after Pentecost is likewise the season before Advent – it is a season of the blessed hope. As we declare Jesus’ return in every Communion celebration, so we confess that he will assuredly appear in power and glory to complete God’s salvation for the world. He will come in power to rescue his own, to make an end of war and sin, and to restore creation under God’s will.

WEEK 44

THIS WEEK’S THEME Come, Holy Spirit: Guide: Leading, Galatians 5.22-26

The Holy Spirit leads the people of God into the will of God as we keep in step with him. The presence of God’s Spirit produces certain fruit in our lives. His transforming work in us will produce love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The Spirit of God leads us especially in how we act toward one another. For the fruit of the Spirit to mature in us, we must walk in step with the Spirit rather than following the desires of our flesh.

Daily Devotional Guide

Preparing Our Hearts

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation Thank you, Lord, God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We who believe in Christ know that our righteousness can only come through the working of the Holy Spirit. Help us to know the Spirit’s power and blessing, and enable us to depend on his strength alone. He is our strength and blessing. Cause us to wait on his leading and prompting, and so will we bear fruit for Christ, fruit that remains and glorifies your name. In Jesus’s name we pray, amen.
