T he C elebration of C hristmas

HolyName of Jesus / New Year’s Day January 1, 2021 Christmas celebrates the birth of Messiah, Jesus, who is the incarnation of the Son of God, Mary’s child. He is the Wordmade flesh, the conqueror who enters this fallen world to reveal to us the Father’s love, to destroy the devil’s work, and to redeem his people from their sins. THIS WEEK’S THEME The Lord Bless You and Keep You, Numbers 6.22-27 In instructing his priests to bless his people, the LORD commanded Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel, saying, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace” (Num. 6.24-26). In saying these words, the Lord commanded Aaron and his sons to “put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them” (Num. 6.27). May the blessing of the Lord be upon you this new calendar year!

Preparing Our Hearts

Invocation: Our Prayer of Acclamation O God, Who hast made the most glorious Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Thine Only-begotten Son, to be exceeding sweet and supremely lovable to Thy faithful servants, and tremendous and terrible to malignant spirits; mercifully grant that all who devoutly venerate this Name of Jesus on earth may in this life receive the sweetness of holy comfort, and in the life to come attain the joy of exulting gladness and never-ending jubilation; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord.
