T he S eason after E piphany

The Epiphany of the Lord January 6, 2021

Epiphany commemorates the coming of the Magi, the wise men from the East who followed the star in search of the Christ child. This season emphasizes Christ’s mission to the Gentiles and his claim of salvation for the world.

TODAY’S THEME The King of the Jews Is Born, Matthew 2.1-12

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem seeking him who was born King of the Jews. Sojourning under the guidance of the star, they came to the house of Mary and the child Jesus, and worshiped him, offering gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Like the Magi, let us seek and adore the Child who is destined to reign as King and Lord of the eternal Kingdom of God.
