1. Every new believer must associate directly with an assembly of believers, which becomes for them their body and their household, Heb. 10.24-25.

2. Every believer, as a part of this body, must come to know and submit to the godly Church leaders who will provide care and training for their life and service, Heb. 13.17.

a. They guide the Church’s worship and growth.

b. They encourage the Church’s witness of the good news of Christ.

c. They coordinate the Church’s work of service and mission to the world.

III. The Third Element of the Great Commission Is Teaching: the Church Gives Witness by its Teaching.

Jesus commanded us to teach his disciples to observe all that he commanded them. This effort centers on the preaching and teaching of the Word of God in the assembly, and through that teaching, to equip believers to become more like him and to do his work in the world.

A. First, we are called to witness by preaching and teaching the Word of God in the Church assembly.

1. Of all the critical elements in the Church’s witness, she must be committed to preaching and teaching the Word of God, 2 Tim. 4.12.
