B. Next, the Church of Jesus Christ is holy.

The Church has been sanctified, made holy, through the ministry of Jesus Christ.

1. The Church is made holy, sanctified, and set apart by the blood of Jesus Christ, Heb. 10.10-14.

2. The Church is made holy through the presence and ministry of the Spirit.

a. 1 Cor. 3.16-17

b. This connection with God through the Spirit is made the basis for the Church’s obedience and purity, 1 Cor. 6.19-20.

3. The Church is also made holy, sanctified, and set apart for God’s possession and use through its obedience to the will and Word of God, John 17.15-19.

C. Again, the Church is catholic.

1. The Church is both multi-cultural and trans-historical: that is, it embodies believers from diverse cultures from all eras and ages. It is not limited by culture, or language, or clan, or country.
