126 • Think Again: Transformation That Yields a Return on God’s Investment

These slogans have deep meaning, because each one represents significant meditation assembled from the steps of forging: Pray Subordinately , Gather Subjectively , Focus Objectively , Write Playfully . There is much thought concentrated in a short slogan, capturing all the previous steps into one short, pithy phrase. Execute Repetitively Having developed a slogan, the next step of forging is to execute your plan. You do this by taking several opportunities during the day to stop what you are doing and Think Again about your slogan. Before you see permanent change in your brain chemistry, research shows that you need seven repetitions per day, for 21 days in a row. So you need to stop what you are doing, and focus your mind on the slogan seven times each day . The repeated affirmation of truth is what God uses to forge your identity. It is interesting that Psalm 119.164 says, “Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous rules.” Science is discovering what the Bible has already revealed: seven repetitions of truth forges you into his image. For each of the seven repetitions, take a few seconds to clear your mind of everything else, and consider the slogan. At first this will be harder than it seems because your mind will be
