1. Christ knows the way that we will take.
2. Christ does not consult his messengers or their colleagues concerning his will for his men and women.
3. Our single task is to follow him wherever he leads, and be less concerned about others or ourselves.
D. The response of the apostolic heart: “Lord, use me as little or as much as you alone may desire.”
V. As Lord of the Harvest, Jesus Determines What His Messengers Must Endure (Suffering).
A. The servant of Jesus is not greater than Jesus himself (i.e., if it were necessary for Christ to suffer, so must his messengers).
John 13.16 – Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Matt. 10.24-25 – A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household.
Luke 6.40 – A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.
John 15.20 – Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they
