C. Set a habit of reading spiritual classics for yourself, your friends, and the leader’s you shepherd.

1. Pastor Hector Cedillo, “A leader is a reader, and a reader is a leader.”

2. Sabbath days are great days to read a bit from a spiritual classic.

3. Make an appointment to meet a “dead friend” in your calendar.

a. Friday, 12:00–12:30pm: “Meet with George M.” Use these thirty minutes to read from George Muller’s Autobiography .

b. Tuesday, 8:00–8:30: “Meet with Teresa A.” Use these thirty minutes to read from Teresa of Avila’s book on prayer called The Interior Castle .

D. Recognize there will be opposition and significant challenges to engaging spiritual classics with friends.

1. Be aware of the opposition from our flesh (internal).

2. Be aware of the opposition from the world (external).

3. Be aware of the Devil’s opposition (infernal).
