c. These two rooms were separated by a special curtain or veil, as was the Holy Place and outer court yard.
5. The gate was at the east end of the court, only one access in it, Exod. 27.16-17 (Christ alone is the only way into relationship with the Father, John 14.6) .
6. As the tabernacle made access to God available (albeit in a restricted manner), so Jesus Christ made access to God available to all through his shed blood on the Cross , Heb. 10.19, 20.
C. Articles of furniture in the Tabernacle represent the person of Jesus Christ
1. The Brazen Altar represents redemption and salvation in Jesus Christ.
a. Exod. 27.1-8: made of shittim wood, overlaid with brass
b. Place of sacrifice (all five offerings were made on this altar)
c. A type of redemption in Christ (where the Innocent bore the sin debt of the guilty) as a ransom for many, Mark 10.45; cf. John 1.29; Heb. 9.12-14 – he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. [13] For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, [14] how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to
