God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

2. The Laver represents our cleansing through Jesus Christ (1 John 1.5-7; Eph. 5.25-26).

John 15.3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 1 John 1.7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

a. Exod. 30.17-21: a basin of brass, set on a pedestal or stand, called the foot

b. Made of brass (from the women’s mirrors), Exod. 38.8

c. Cleansing for fellowship, both through the Word of God and the blood of Christ, cf. John 15.3 with 1 John 1.7

3. The Table of Shewbread represents Jesus Christ as the Bread of life, John 6.48 – I am the bread of life.

a. Exod. 25.23-30: made of shittim wood, overlaid with gold, standing on the north side of the Holy Place

b. A type of Christ who is the Bread of Life, John 6.48-51 – I am the bread of life. [49] Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. [50] This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. [51] I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.

c. Twelves loaves placed in two rows on the table (could they represent sufficient nourishment for each of God’s tribe [cf. the Church of God is represented as a loaf], see 1 Cor. 10.7).
