father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, [15] but my steadfast love will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. b. Jesus, Isa. 9.6-7 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. 8. God made a covenant with him that the Kingdom would never depart from his house, and his dominion would be an everlasting dominion.
a. David, 2 Sam. 7.16 – And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever.
b. Jesus, Luke 1.31-33 – And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. [32] He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
