every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. [22] And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the Church.

e. Heb. 10.12 – But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

f. 1 Pet. 3.22 – . . . who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.

g. Rev. 3.21 – The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

h. Rev. 22.1 – Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.

C. Theological implications of the Ascension of Jesus Christ

Eph. 4.8-10 Therefore it says,

“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” [9] (In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? [10] He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

1. Jesus has been given an exalted place of distinction, authority, and honor before God : He is the Head over all things, Head of the Church.

a. As Head of the body of Christ, Eph. 1.20-23

b. As Captain of the Army of God, Matt. 28.18-20

c. As Lord of the Harvest, Matt. 9.35-38
