2. Jesus ever lives to fulfill his high priestly role of intercession for us.

a. His high priestly prayer, John 17

b. His intercession for believers today, Rom. 8.33-34; Heb. 7.25; 9.24; 1 John 2.1-2

3. Jesus is ruling all things now as Messiah and Lord, and must reign until all enemies have been placed under his feet at the Second Coming.

a. The prophetic anticipation of the Messianic king, Gen. 49.10; Ps. 89.35-37; Dan. 7.13-14; Isa. 9.6-7

b. Jesus is himself the fulfilment of OT prophecies of the coming King from David’s line, Ps. 45.6-7, cf. Heb. 1.8.

c. He is currently reigning as Lord from his exalted place at God’s right hand, subduing his enemies and reasserting God’s rule through his people, the Church, Rom. 14.7-9; Eph. 1.20-23.

d. He is sustaining all things, and functioning as the head and source for all things to his body, the Church, Col. 1.17-18.

e. He must reign until all enemies have been placed under his feet, 1 Cor. 15.24-26.
