b. During the course of these five years, scholars believe that he took time to write Romans (while in Ephesus) and the letters to the Corinthians.
2. The theme of salvation (redemption, sanctification, and deliverance) is prominent in all three of these major letters.
a. Rom. 1.16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
b. 1 Cor. 1.21 – For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.
c. 1 Cor. 15.1-4 – Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, [2] and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you – unless you believed in vain. [3] For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, [4] that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
d. 2 Cor. 6.2 – For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
