b. 2 Thess. 1.5-9 – This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you are also suf fering – [6] since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, [7] and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels [8] in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. [9] They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might.
F. Christ is the Commander of the Forces of God, overcoming the devil and all his minions in the universe, (Rev. 12-13).
1. Christ Jesus was manifested in the world to destroy the works of the devil.
a. Gen. 3.15 – I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
b. 1 John 3.8 – Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
c. Luke 10.18 – And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
d. John 12.31 – Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.
