the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.
(2) Matt. 4.11 – Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.
(3) The ministry of angels in the life and ministry of Jesus
(a) Matt. 26.53 – Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?
(b) Luke 22.43 – And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.
(c) 1 Tim. 3.16 – Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
C. Significance of the Temptation
1. Jesus identifies with us, for he has been tempted as we have.
a. Heb. 4.15-16 – For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. [16] Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
b. Heb. 2.18 – For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
