A Biblical Vision, Part II: Mastering the New Testament Witness to Christ
Ses s i on 2: The Gospe l s : The Man i fes tat i on of Chr i s t , Par t I 63
1. How and in what ways have I engaged and embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ for my own life and salvation?
2. To what extent am I familiar with the details surrounding the entrance of Jesus into the world? Do I understand the power of the lowliness and humility that is demonstrated in his life?
a. Matt. 11.25-30 – At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; [26] yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. [27] All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. [28] Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” b. 1 Cor. 1.26-29 – For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. [27] But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; [28] God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, [29] so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
3. To what extent does my language, life, and conduct model the lowliness and loveliness of the Lord in my home, among my kin, with my friends, and on the job?
