3. He delighted himself in the accomplishment of the Father’s will.
Jesus Lived to Do the Will of God Alone
Matt. 26.39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” John 4.34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” John 6.38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. John 17.4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. John 8.50 Yet I do not seek
a. Ps. 40.8 – “I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”
b. John 4.32, 34 – But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” [34] Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.”
4. He glorified the Father’s name.
a. John 13.31-32 – When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. [32] If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once.”
b. John 5.36 – “But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.”
c. John 14.31 – “. . . but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.”
Rom. 15.3 For Christ did not please himself,
but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me.”
d. John 17.4 – “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.”
