1. The biblical idea

a. Ps. 119.63 – I am a companion of all who fear you, of those who keep your precepts.

b. Mal. 3.16-18 – Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name. [17] “They shall be mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. [18] Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.”

c. Ps. 119.79 – Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies.

d. Ps. 142.7 – Bring me out of prison, that I may give thanks to your name! The righteous will surround me, for you will deal bountifully with me.

e. Prov. 13.20 – Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
