b. Mark 9.41 – For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.

5. We qualify to serve as we cleanse ourselves from unrighteousness and are made fit in the Word of God

a. Cleansed from defilement, 2 Tim. 2.21 – Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

b. Equipped by the Word of God, 2 Tim. 3.16-17

6. We must strive to practice hospitality and generosity to the needy in our midst, for to do so to them is to do so to Christ, Matt. 25.40 – And the King will answer them, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” 7. We must be ready and willing to give ourselves and our goods to meet the practical needs of others wherever and whenever we can, Heb. 13.1-3 – Let brotherly love continue. [2] Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. [3] Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. a. Treat the stranger as your own kin, Lev. 19.34 – You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
