if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. [41] And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. [42] Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.
5. Cultivate giving as an act of hilarity and joy; learn the power of cheerful giving, 2 Cor. 9.7 – Each one must give as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
6. Don’t merely be serving to those who can reciprocate; find those who cannot return the favor and give generously to them.
a. Don’t merely serve friends, relatives, and family members, Luke 14.12-14 – He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. [13] But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, [14] and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.” b. Pour yourself out for those who are hungry and afflicted, Isa. 58.10 – If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
7. Control your backbiting, criticism, and slander of others
